President - Lynn Gordon, MD, PhD
Dr. Gordon is a professor of ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, and the Associate Dean for Diversity Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Applied Anatomy College at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She has been active in several professional organizations including Women in Ophthalmology, the North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society (NANOS), Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies (FOCIS), American Academy of Ophthalmology (Media Spokesperson for NANOS and Uveitis Panel for the MOC) and the Los Angeles Eye Society and in community work as well. She is a fellow of the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Program for Women, and currently serves as a member of the AAMC Group on Faculty Affairs. In WIO she was a member of the board from 2000-2003 and the alternate councilor to the AAO. She is committed to the professional and leadership development of women in ophthalmology both in the public and private sector and looks forward to an opportunity to further serve our community. |

Vice President - Mildred M.G. Olivier, MD
Dr. Olivier is an Assistant Professor at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital at Cook County and at Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital. She is currently the CEO of Midwest Glaucoma Center, P.C. She received her undergraduate degree from Loyola University and her medical degree from Finch University Of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at Columbia University at Harlem Hospital Center in New York. She completed her Fellowship in Glaucoma at the Kresge Eye Institute at Wayne State University under the direction of Dr. Dong Shin, M.D, PhD.
Dr. Olivier has served on the Advisory Council of the National Eye Institute, the Women’s Task Force and Women and Diversity Committee at the Association for Vision and Research in Ophthalmology, is a delegate for the AAO to the American Medical Association. Dr. Olivier serves on the Board for Prevent Blindness America. She is past President of the Chicago Chapter for the Haitian Physician’s Association (AMHE) and the Midwest Association of Haitian American Women which she founded in Chicago. She is currently the Vice President of the Chicago Glaucoma Society. She is an active member of the American Glaucoma Society.
Dr. Olivier has published in major peer-reviewed journals and is one of the co-authors for the Glaucoma section in Clinical Eye Atlas. She is one of three editors of the book Maintaining the Target Intraocular Pressure: African American Glaucoma Specialists. She conducts regular medical mission to Haiti and serves on a number of voluntary health organizations. |

Immediate Past President - Jennifer Lim, MD
Dr. Lim is Professor of Ophthalmology and Director of the Retina Service at University of Illinois, Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago. She is the current Marion H. Schenk Esq., Chair in Ophthalmology for Research in the Aging Eye. She received her Medical Degree with Distinction from Northwestern University Six–Years Honors Program in Medical Education where she was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (AOA) and received the Dean’s AOA Student Research Award and the Julius Conn Memorial Award. She completed her ophthalmology training at the University of Illinois at Chicago, Eye and Ear Infirmary where she received the Resident research Award and the American College of Surgeons Resident Competition Chicago Chapter Keeshin Prize. She completed her medical retina and surgical retina training at the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital and was a Heed Fellow Awardee and a Heed Knapp Fellow Awardee.
Her research interests include clinical trials and translational research. She has been principal investigator in over 25 clinical trials and currently is the principal investigator of 6 clinical trials at UIC. She has served on Data and Safety Monitoring Committees and is currently on the Executive Committee of the READ-2 Study. She collaborates with basic scientists on angiogenesis research and has received funding from the National Eye Institute, Macula Society Research Fund, American Cancer Society and numerous industry grants.
She belongs to and has held leadership positions within the Retina Society, Macula Society, American Society of Retinal Specialists (ASRS), Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) and Chinese American Ophthalmology Society. She is currently the Retina Subcommittee Chairperson of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Annual Meeting Planning Committee, the President of WIO, Chairperson of Retina Society Credentialing Committee, Chairperson of the Macula Society Research and Education Committee and serves on the Editorial Boards of EyeNet, Eye Exchange Network and Retina Case Series and Brief Reports.
She has received the AAO Senior Achievement Award, ASRS Senior Honor Award, Suzanne-Veronneau Troutman Award, CAOS service awards, USC teaching awards and Best Doctors in America. She has authored or co-authored over 200 articles, 19 book chapters and edited several books including Age-Related Macular Degeneration, which is currently in the Second Edition. |

Secretary – JoAnne Giaconi, MD
Dr. Giaconi is an Assistant Clinical Professor of ophthalmology at the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, Chief of the ophthalmology section at the Greater Los Angeles VA Healthcare System and Co-Director of ophthalmic education at the David Geffen School of Medicine, UCLA. She received her medical degree from Columbia University, residency training at Stanford University Hospital, fellowship training in cornea at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and glaucoma fellowship training at the Jules Stein Eye Institute. She has been active in several professional organizations including Women in Ophthalmology, the Los Angeles Society of Ophthalmology, American Glaucoma Society, California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons and the American Academy of Ophthalmology, from which she received an Achievement Award for her service in 2010. In WIO, she served as a board member from 2008-2010 and on the program committee for the 2009 Summer Symposium. She looks forward to further serving WIO and its mission. |

Membership Development Director – Gloria W. Wang, MD
Dr. Wang is an Assistant Professor at Stanford University and the Chief of Glaucoma at the Palo Alto Veterans Hospital. She received her undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and her medical degree from the University of California, San Diego. She completed her Ophthalmology residency at Stanford and fellowship in Glaucoma at the University of California, San Francisco with Robert Stamper MD, Jorge Alvarado MD, and Shan Lin MD.
In WIO Dr. Wang served as a board member since 2007 and initiated the Mentorship Program in 2006. She is active in many other professional organizations and has published in major peer-reviewed journals. Her current research interests include patient compliance and visual and ocular damage in blast-induced traumatic brain injury. She looks forward to further serving her community and the Women in Ophthalmology. |

Treasurer - Linda Christmann, MD, MBA
Dr. Christmann is a Pediatric Ophthalmologist who moved from practice to healthcare administration in 2005, after completion of an MBA at the University of Tennessee PEMBA program. She is currently the Associate Medical Director, Quality and Patient Safety for SE Permanente in Atlanta. In this capacity, she has oversight of the care experience, peer review, elder care, and complex case management. She has passion around lean healthcare, medical informatics, and healthcare disparities, as well as women’s issues.
With her husband of 27 years, Michael, she loves to travel locally and internationally. Other hobbies including rose gardening, tennis and cooking Indian food. She is the proud mother of 5 children and grandmother of 4.

Councilor to AAO - Laura King, MD
Dr. King is National Medical Director for Sterling Health Plans, a nation-wide insurance company that specializes in senior markets including Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, and Medicare Supplement plans. Before this, she was Senior Medical Director, Florida, for WellCare, responsible for Medicare Advantage and Medicaid Florida plans' Quality Improvement and Accreditation. She was Medical Director, Georgia, for WellCAre when this company's managed Medicaid product went live state-wide; she participated in Quality Improvement initiatives and was responsible for physician profiling. She formerly practiced Comprehensive Ophthalmology as part-time clinical faculty at The Emory Clinic, where she was Risk Management and Compliance Liaison for the section. She was Medical Director, Care Coordination for Emory Hospitals, working with managed care companies, physicians, and hospital operations to achieve expedited care for patients. She was a consultant for multiple managed health care organizations, assisting with guideline development and application in ophthalmology. She has been WIO President, Immediate Past-President, Secretary, Newsletter Editor and Board Member. In 2000, she completed the AAO Leadership Development Program as WIO's sponsored nominee. She has served on the Board of Directors of OMIC, the Alabama Ophthalmology state society, and Coventry Healthcare of Georgia. She has served on the AAO Insurance and Practice Management Committees. She received the AAO Honor Award last year. For the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology, has been President, Third Party Payer Chair, Council member, and representative to the Georgia Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. She is Chief Operating Officer for a family of seven (1 husband, 4 children including 1 college graduate who is independent, and 1 elderly dog) and recently celebrated her 27th wedding anniversary. |
