Women in Ophthalmology (WIO) was founded to enhance and improve the professional environment for women ophthalmologists. The Annual Summer Symposium provides solid scientific and practice management education, leadership programs and networking events to clinicians, researchers, and other professionals who are engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases. This year's program is especially exciting as it will feature additional hands-on opportunities for the development of your practice and professional potential. To increase the interaction with many respected leaders in the industry, we are providing topical case studies, leadership sessions, speaker panels, multiple wet lab stations and a specialized communications bootcamp. This year we are delighted to include a session presented by our colleagues at OWL (Ophthalmic Women Leaders). You will leave the WIO Summer Symposium refreshed, revitalized and better prepared to navigate your many responsibilities. WIO is also increasingly focused on the development of residents and welcomes their abstracts and complicated cases for presentation. The Summer Symposium provides a great setting for established ophthalmologists to mentor residents and help them develop leadership skills that will be useful in their career. Networking is an integral element of the Summer Symposium and time has been designated to ensure maximum interaction between all delegates. The meeting takes place at the Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Virginia which offers a beautiful backdrop for our activities. Networking events will help you get to know fellow participants and create lasting relationships. See you August 9-12, 2012 at the WIO Summer Symposium in Williamsburg! Kind regards, Carolyn Anderson, MD |
