Abstracts Recommendations

All abstracts are considered equally for selection and the quality of the abstract is the single most important factor in the committee’s decision. The information below is provided to help you prepare the best possible abstract for submission.

Abstracts should have enough information or data to answer a scientific question. Consider formatting your abstract submission using: Purpose, Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion. If your research does not meet the criteria above consider using a Grand Rounds format: Chief Complaint/Presentation, Clinical History, Ocular Exam, Data/Photos/Video, Differential Diagnosis and Results, Conclusion.

Use the following questions to strengthen your submission:

  • Is the title of the abstract descriptive?
  • Does the abstract include sample size, study duration, and/or descriptions of techniques used, as needed?
  • Avoid including statements like “will be done,” “will be studied,” “will be underway,” or “will be analyzed.”
