Target Audience: The Summer Symposium is created for ophthalmologists, researchers, nurses, ophthalmic technicians and other allied health personnel who are engaged in the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases.

Learning Objectives: After attending the WIO Summer Symposium, participants will be able to:

  • Apply the most up-to-date information in the care of patients with retinal, uveitic, corneal, glaucomic, pediatric, neurological or low vision problems.
  • Analyze the current issues/problems faced by organizations such as AAO and WIO and their members.
  • Describe the epidemiology of glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration.
  • Distinguish the role of government in medicine, advocacy, policy development and how these related to an individual practice pattern.
  • Apply software related to patient care and practice management.
  • Interpret the liability and legal aspects of risk management.
  • Apply the changes in communication technology related to medical practice.
