It’s time to register for Wetlabs! The labs being offered are listed below. Please note that there are limited slots, so please reserve your space soon for one or more of the labs listed below. Once the lab is full, you will be unable to register or participate in that lab. Availability listed below is max capacity for that lab and not updated in real-time.

Friday, August 23rd

BASIC PHACOEMULSIFICATION LAB ($20)

This lab, directed by Drs. Anna Momont and Grace Sun, along with a faculty of experienced surgeons, will present phaco techniques and technologies that are geared toward residents and practicing physicians who wish to brush up on their skills. This course is designed to teach participants the principles and skills necessary to understand and perform phacoemulsification safely and efficiently.  At the conclusion, attendees will have exposure to and practice in basic phacoemulsification techniques. (No students please.)

DRY EYE LAB ($20)

Cynthia Matossian, MD, FACS and Laura Periman, MD are the course directors for this lab. This will be a unique interactive experience that you don’t want to miss. Industry partners in the Dry Eye space within both the diagnostic and therapeutic arenas will highlight their products or services in the first half of the session. In the second half of the session, attendees will have the opportunity to experience the equipment and products first hand in a round-robin rotation. This interactive venue will provide ophthalmologists an opportunity to test equipment and personally experience services related to Dry Eye Disease.

PLASTICS LAB ($20)

The Plastics Lab, organized by Sara Wester MD, Erin Shriver MD, Femida Kherani MD and Andrea Kossler MD will feature invited speakers Wendy Lee, MD and Cat Burkat, MD, who are world-renowned experts in Oculofacial aesthetics. This lab will consist of a two-hour integrated program with lectures interspersed with live injections. Topics will include live filler injections, botulinum injections, and topical skincare products.  Learn about aesthetic techniques such as injecting botulinum toxin and fillers, patient selection, and risks and benefits of these products.

Saturday, August 24th

INTRASCLERAL HAPTIC FIXATION IOL LAB ($20)

What to Do when the Capsule is GONE? Maria Romero MD will be the course director for this lab. This session aims to help cataract and anterior segment surgeons learn how to perform intrascleral haptic fixation to IOL placement in the absence of capsular support using the GLUED IOL and YAMANE techniques.

INTRAOPERATIVE ABERROMETRY LAB ($20)

Directed by Dee Stephenson, MD, this lab will focus on Intraoperative Aberrometry highlighting the Alcon ORA VerifEye+ system. Learn the science behind intraoperative aberrometry and how to utilize the technology as an additional tool to take refractive measurements in the operating room to aid in the determination of IOL power selection and placement.

GLAUCOMA/MIGS LAB ($10)

Gloria Fleming MD and Regine Pappas MD will be the Course Co-Directors for this lab. The course will cover microincisional glaucoma surgeries (MIGS).  Many techniques will be covered such as the trabecular microbypass stent (iStent, Glaukos Corp.), Goniotomy ab interno with dual blade devices (Kahook Dual Blade, New World Medical), and ClearPath (New World Medical), the XEN implant (Allergan) for subconjunctival shunting of aqueous humor and the Omni360 ab interno canal procedures (SightSciences). There will be individualized instruction and demonstrations. Participants will have the opportunity to sign up for 15-minute time-slots for the company/modality that is of interest to them.  You may sign up for more than one MIGS lab, if available. Please ensure that you are able to commit to the time in which you sign up. The spot will be reserved for you.
