WIO Honorary Lecture Award

This award is given by the President of WIO to honor an individual who is a leader in ophthalmology and who has contributed to the profession as an educator, researcher or humanitarian. The awardee is invited to speak at the annual WIO Summer Symposium about their research, education or humanitarian efforts.

  • 2016 WIO Award Nominations

    Thank you for taking the time to submit a nomination of a woman who is deserving of a WIO award.

  • Global terms of WIO Awards:

    • Nominees may not be nominated for an award they have already received.
    • Individuals may not receive more than one award per year.
    • Award will be presented at the WIO Summer Symposium each year in August and acknowledged on the WIO website and media outlets.
    • Calls for nominations will be issued annually but all awards may not be given every year.

    Honorary Lecture Award

    This award is given to honor an individual who is a leader in ophthalmology and who has contributed to the profession as an educator, researcher or humanitarian. The awarded is asked to speak about their research, education or humanitarian efforts. Past recipients include Susan Day, Joan Miller, Julia Haller, William Rich, Jean Ramsey, Tom Harbin, Martine Jager, Johanna Seddon and ME Hartnett.
