WIO Recognition of Service Award

The WIO Recognition of Service Award recognizes individuals who have served in a volunteer leadership capacity for WIO (Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Program Chair, etc.) and made a significant difference in the organization. Nominations should include the nominee’s role, approximate dates of service and examples of improvements made in the organization and/or the professional environment for women in ophthalmology. Nominations will be solicited from WIO members annually.
The nominee must be a current WIO member to be nominated for this award.
The Purpose of this award is to recognize a member of Women in Ophthalmology who has served/volunteered on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Program Chair, etc). This individual is someone who has made a significant difference in the organization. Nominations should include the nominee’s role, approximate dates of service and examples of improvements made in the organization and/or professional environment for women in ophthalmology.
The Nomination Committee of the WIO (led by the Immediate past president) will consider nominations that meet the qualifications and criteria above and that are received by the deadline. Selection of the award recipient will be determined on the basis of factors including, but not limited to: leadership skills and service to WIO over time. Only one recipient will be selected if there are multiple nominations for this award that fulfill the criteria. This award may not be given yearly if the committee feels that there are not enough qualified applicants. The selection committee will verify references of the nominee, and if necessary gather additional information in making their determination. Please list the nominee’s roles and approximate dates of service.
